
Anders Nelson is a clarinetist, private teacher, band
director, adjudicator, and clinician. His musical activities began in the Poway
school system. He received his bachelor’s degree in clarinet performance from
California State University, Northridge and pursued post-graduate studies in
music education at California State University, Los Angeles.
For ten years he conducted award-winning middle and elementary school band
programs before returning to San Diego as a freelance musician and teacher. Some
of his most memorable musical activities include performing at the Super Bowl
and being the director of a circus band.
He has presented clinics at state and regional music education conferences, as
well as for several universities and school districts. He also is an adjudicator
for musical events ranging from honor band auditions to field show competitions.
Anders serves as an evaluator for Certificate of Merit
throughout Southern California. Many of his students participate in this program
locally, as well as in The San Diego Youth Symphony and various regional and
state honor groups.
Anders currently teaches private clarinet lessons as
well as in several extra-curricular and home school music programs. He is
passionate about music and loves to share his enthusiasm and skills with his
students.
Anders is a member of the Music Teachers Association of
California and the International Clarinet Society.
