Al Luna is
a native San
Diegan. He attended SDSU
as a music major, with an emphasis on thewoodwind
instruments, the clarinet, saxophone and flute. He also studied in Los
Angeles with well known studio
musicians such as William Green, Plas
Johnson, Buddy Collette, etc.
During his professional career, he has performed in many venues from
classical, jazz, big band to rock as well as performing
on commercial studio recordings. As a professional "doubler" he was
required to be professionally proficient on the sax, clarinet as well as
the flute. Al played
with San DiegoCharger band for 6
years as well as performed with many show bands backing up various
celebrities.
Al has been teaching in
the Poway and La Jolla area
for the past 30 years. During this time he has seen many of his own student
reach their own professional musical dreams.
Al enjoys teaching all
levels and ages.
